St. Raymond’s Parochial Vicar:
Father Dan Thelen
Fr. Dan Thelen was born on July 18th, 1980, the first of three children. He grew up in Clear Lake, a small town of 1000 people about one hour north-west of Eau Claire. His parents were dairy farmers who retired around 2005. As a youth, he was involved in 4-H and FFA. He attended Clear Lake public school where he participated in football, track and baseball.
Following high school he received a bachelors in horticulture from UW-River Falls. For three years he worked in this field before moving to Boyd, where he heard and answered the call to the priesthood. He attended seminary for 2 years at Mundelein (IL) and then 4 years in Rome. He was ordained to the priesthood on June 27, 2015. For the past two years he has assisted Fr. Thorn at St. Matthew and Holy Name parishes in Wausau, and serving as chaplain of Newman Middle School.
During his spare time, Fr. Thelen enjoys spending time with his family, including a niece and a nephew. He also enjoys continuing his study of the saints and supporting the work of the Ukrainian non-profit, Chalice of Mercy.
Fr Thelen is also an avid bicyclist and loves to explore the Wisconsin country-side.
